Good evening all,
Recognising the People Behind Masters Hockey
At every World Masters Hockey tournament, a dedicated group of individuals works tirelessly to ensure the game is played in the right spirit, our officials and volunteers.
These individuals give their time, expertise, and energy because of their passion for hockey and their commitment to the Masters community. They travel from across the world, balance professional and personal commitments, and contribute to our events not for reward, but for the love of the game.
It is important to recognise that WMH officials and committee members are volunteers. They are not paid for their roles and, in most cases, cover their own travel, accommodation, and expenses in order to be part of our tournaments. Their contribution is both personal and significant.
Officials play a vital role in every match. They uphold standards, ensure fair competition, and help create the professional and welcoming environment that players and teams value so highly at WMH events.
Like all participants in sport, officials operate in fast-paced, high-pressure environments and make decisions in real time, always with integrity and in the best interests of the game. What they deserve from all of us is simple, respect, understanding, and appreciation.
We also recognise the work of WMH Committees, whose members operate behind the scenes to plan tournaments, support host organisations, and appoint officials. Their efforts are fundamental to the success and continued growth of Masters Hockey worldwide.
To all our officials and volunteers, thank you. Your dedication, professionalism, and commitment to the game do not go unnoticed. WMH is stronger because of you.
Rob Jenkins
Chair, WMH Officiating Committee
